Devlog - Gathering and Crafting

Gathering resources and crafting items are important parts of surviving in Pawsecuted.

These activities rely heavily on the game's actions and tags system. In this system, every item or site can have certain actions performed on it. Every item/site also has a set of tags affecting what it can do.

For example you can harvest wood from an underbrush site, then use that wood to fuel the forge.

However, if you're somewhere without much underbrush nearby, the forge can be fueled with any item that has the "combustible" tag such as charcoal. Charcoal is much lighter than wood and thus easily transportable.

So you could potentially set up a route where you go to nearby bushland, set it on fire, collect the leftover charcoal and carry it back to your forge.

Why not just set up your forge/settlement near bushland, you ask? Because you might want to be near other resources such as iron formations if you want to make heavy armor. Alternatively, you could prefer settling near mountain caves for easy access to bat guano, used in crafting gunpowder and fertiliser.

It's very rare to find all resources located close to each other in the procedurally generated world, so you'll have to scout an area and decide what you prefer to have nearby and what's worth a journey.
